Mark Thompson was born in Olean, New York at St. Francis Hospital. He's been around so long he is considered one of those "baby boomers", but on the younger side of the spectrum.
Mark graduated with a Mass Communications/Broadcasting degree from Penn State. No, it wasn't before Joe Paterno became head coach!
Mark has worked at stations in Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, Pa., Jamestown, N.Y., Springfield, Mo. and Columbia, Mo. He's been involved in the country music industry since 1978. Country is his favorite music by far, ever since his childhood idol was the late Roger Miller.
Mark lives in Kennedy, N.Y. with his lovely wife Cindy and they have one child still living with them out of six! Should his last name have been Brady? Valerie attends Falconer Central High School as an honor roll student. They knew she was smart when she stated she doesn't want to be a DJ!
In his spare time, Mark enjoys camping, attending Nascar races along with dirt track racing in the area, including Little Valley Speedway and Stateline Speedway.
Mark wanted to become a race car driver himself until he bruised his elbow when he fell out of a soap box derby. Ouch!
Mark is WPIG's Program Director. E-mail him anytime with your requests, suggestions or comments. If you're nice, he might write back!
