Wayne Mahar, President and founder of Precision Weather Service. Wayne became interested in weather at an early age and developed and managed a private weather service starting at age 13! One of Wayne’s early assignments was providing meteorological support for the construction of the Maine Yankee atomic power plant. Wayne's business grew after he graduated from high school to encompass over 63 clients. Wayne's extensive experience also includes consulting and researching on over 350 weather incidents of various types across theUnited Statesand serving as an Expert Witness dozens of times from county court systems to State Supreme Courts and Court of Claims. Wayne started his television career in 1980 in Portland, Maine and has been Chief Meteorologist at WSTM NBC TV Syracuse, NY for 20 years along with having been On Air with weather segments for the TODAY Show, MSNBC and The Weather Channel. Wayne holds a Television and radio Seal of Approval from the American Meteorological Association plus the Television and Radio Seal of Approval from the National Weather Association. Currently, in addition to his duties as Chief Meteorologist at WSTM, Wayne is owner and President of Precision Weather Service. Since 1983, Precision Weather Service has grown to encompass nearly 200 clients ranging from radio stations, utilities, ski areas and more. Precision Weather is one of the largest private weather operations in the United States and the second largest of such operations in Canada. Wayne lives inSyracuse, NY with his wife and two daughters. When not dealing with the "high pressure" world of weather,Wayne enjoys working out and is also a Third Degree Black Belt in karate.
